Bitter Suite (Sweet)

I had a friend visiting and was looking for a place to have drinks and dinner. I had a look at some restaurants in the city, but all of them were a little expensive. Another friend suggested Bitter Suite and I had a look online at their menu, got quite excited as there was heaps of GF stuff and relatively cheap!

We got there about 7 on a Friday night and it was quite empty, so you'd think our food would come out pretty quickly, but no it took over an hour for our meals to come out. Luckily, we were too busy drinking (see more below). As always, when I order I talk with the waiter to re-ensure that the food is infact GF and to let them know that I have an allergy. The waitress understood and even double checked that one of the dishes was g-free.

I ordered the roast pork belly ($20) that was served with roast celeriac, it was pretty damn good. The crackling was just that crackling and the meat was tender as. The meal itself wasn't that much so we ordered a side of greenbeans, kale and baby carrot bathes in almond butter ($9).  Thought I would indulge too seeing that it was a Friday night and order a dessert. I ordered the g-free lemon linseed cake, it was moist and full of lemony goodness, although the linseed made it a bit slimy ($12). My friend ordered the banana bread (NOT g-free) ($8) and was very very jealous of that.

Roast Pork Belly

Ordered a couple (of too many) drinks as well. Went up to the bar and ordered a couple of cocktails and the bartender made us cocktails based on our spirit of choice. I got a random spiced rum cocktail which had chartruse in it ($20), which was sweet and very very strong!! My friend got a vodka and absinthe cocktail, which was ok seeing that it wasn't something that they had on the menu.

I'd definitely come back maybe when its warmer to sit outside.

Oh My G-free rating - 7/10
